School Cover Teacher: Position: Cover Teacher Location: Wokingham Hours: Teaching hours Salary: Main Teacher pay scale or Unqualified teacher pay scale dependent on experience Start Date: ASAP Teaching personnel are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Cover Teacher to join our team in supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This exciting opportunity will allow you to make a real difference in the lives of children who require additional support in a specialist educational environment. As a Cover Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning, ensuring continuity for students during teacher absences. Key Responsibilities: Deliver pre-planned lessons and ensure they are adapted appropriately to meet the individual needs of students with SEMH. Manage classroom behaviour effectively, fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. Provide emotional support and guidance to students, helping them to manage challenges and engage with learning. Work collaboratively with support staff to implement individualised strategies for students with SEMH needs. Ensure effective communication with staff, students, and parents regarding progress and behaviour. Promote student engagement and participation, adapting teaching methods where necessary to accommodate diverse needs. To impart knowledge skills and understanding to each pupil following planned schemes of work that deliver the National Curriculum both within and if appropriate outside the prescribed Key Stages and programmes of study for each subject delivered. Essential Skills and Experience: Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage students with varying emotional and academic needs. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working within a team. A compassionate and flexible attitude, with a commitment to supporting student's well-being and progress. Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations, while maintaining a professional approach. Desirable: Experience working with students with SEMH, or in a similar special educational needs setting. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
