Thurrock Council is seeking an experienced Building Safety Manager to join the Technical Services Team within the Housing Department.
We have a housing portfolio of approximately 10,000, the assets themselves are spread across the Borough and vary significantly in regard to size and build type. The portfolio includes a large number of residential flats of which include fifteen high rise residential tower blocks and it is for these that we are seeking two experienced Building Safety Managers.
The Building Safety Manager's will play a key role in the future management of these tower blocks, the purpose of these roles is to work with various teams within the housing department to effectively manage the tower blocks in respect to building and fire safety by ensuring they coordination the health and safety requirements of planned, major, and cyclical obligations within these buildings in line with legislative requirements.
The successful candidates will play a leading role in resident communication in these buildings to ensure that residents are provide with a suitable platform to engage in regards to the management of the tower blocks. The post holder will also be required to consult with residents on changes to the building strategies to ensure these are easily understood and effectively communicated to all residents and stakeholders.
One key aspect of this role will be the responsibility for managing, reviewing and updating the building safety files for the high-rise buildings that are assigned to them.
These are new roles within the organisation and therefore, the successful candidates will have a fantastic opportunity to shape the roles and their future work whilst ensuring this complies with current and emerging legislation.
We are seeking a motivated individual who is able to self-manage their time while also working collectively with colleagues across the housing service to improve the service delivery to our residents whilst also enhancing the skill base within the team.
You must have the desire to continuously improve your personal development and assist other team members to in improving theirs.
The nature of the role means that the applicants must be confident, proactive and have the ability to engage with a wide-ranging audience whilst also being technically proficient in the role in respect to buildings management and fire safety in residential properties.
You must have the applicable qualifications in respect to residential building management and fire safety and also has a proved track record in this regard.
Successful candidates will be supported in new training and qualifications to ensure that they have the required skills set to successfully fulfil these roles on behalf of the Authority.
Due to the locality of the buildings across the Thurrock Borough it is essential that the successful candidates have access to a vehicle that is insured and can be used for work purposes.
