Your new role
As the production scheduler you will be working on a shift basis based at our state of the art train maintenance centre in Doncaster. You will be liaising with the Central Planning Cell to develop and deliver the operational maintenance schedule, with the necessary information to allow the effective and efficient execution of rolling stock maintenance in accordance with contractual requirements.
1. Focus on the local daily and weekly maintenance plan for the Train Maintenance centre (TMC), including train cleaning and KPI activities, in order to develop and continually refine the maintenance schedule for the IEP Class 800 fleet.
2. Review, prioritise and schedule maintenance tasks with the TMC Duty Shift Manager (DSM) in accordance with maintenance plan priorities.
3. Identify any restrictions in capacity & resource that could affect the delivery of the maintenance plan. Work with the local management and CPC to reduce the effect of the restriction.
4. Identify, coordinate and leverage resources to enable the maintenance schedule including the technical information and any material required.
5. Coordinate the work of contractors and external repair agencies into the maintenance schedule.
6. Monitor the backlog of defects in order to reduce the amount of reactive maintenance and improve reliability.
7. Be reactive to incidents, disruptions and emergencies on the operational railway and amend the maintenance schedule accordingly; record decisions to drive improvement.
8. Ensure defects in-service and emerging work is incorporated into the maintenance schedule.
9. Liaise with Planners in the Central Planning Cell (CPC); the Duty Shift Manager (DSM) and Team Leaders (TL) to agree the maintenance plan to be executed.
10. Administer and manage technical investigations to ensure timely resolution.
11. Utilise the SAP Maintenance Management System (MMS) and other IT applications in order to inform and develop the workload plan.
12. Ensuring SOROS is accurate at all times.
13. Review of all defects and correct coding in SAP in line with IEP contractual obligations.
14. Participate in the daily conference calls & planning meetings.
15. Act as the SAP super user for the TMC.
16. Maintain the fatigue index for all staff, updating in accordance with changes to the resource plan.
17. Co-ordinate with the Training Department to plan training and assessment while maintaining resource requirements.
18. Support the Duty Shift manager with the day to day office management tasks.
19. Ensure all overtime, holidays, sickness and any other absence is recorded and reported.
20. Prepare reports and give verbal briefs as required.
21. Promote, support and comply with all health and safety practices in the workplace.
22. Any other duties as directed by the Duty Shift Manager.
23. Ensure work activities for the train cleaning function are allocated to the relevant individual on shift each night and ensure that all activities are closed in SAP once the job has been completed via the tablets.
24. Ensure any notifications that are raised during the shift are allocated to the relevant individual so that the SAP work order can be completed.

25. Previous experience of scheduling maintenance and production.
26. Strong organisational and administrative skills
27. Excellent problem solving skills and ability to think quickly.
28. Experience of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) – SAP
Behavioural
29. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
30. Able to represent Hitachi in a professional manner at all times.
31. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
Desirable
Licences / Competences
32. Intermediate IT skills – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
33. Previous experience of rolling stock maintenance.
