Based in Craigavon, Co. Armagh, Wilson’s Country Ltd specializes in pre-packed, peeled and processed potatoes. We supply food retailers, caterers, and food processing companies with a range of products, offering quality, taste, full traceability, and value for money.
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Quality Assurance Supervisor who will support the QA Manager and will be responsible for the management of QA team activities such as organizing and overseeing daily quality department tasks, QA staff development and training, and ensuring compliance within the requirements of our Quality Management System.
Our basic pay rate is £14.50 per hour, with an overtime rate of 1.5 times the pay rate per hour for hours worked over 40 hours and double time for any hours on a Sunday.
The successful applicant will join our quality assurance team and tasks will include the following:
1. Team Management:
o Being the first point of contact for QA Technicians and also mentoring placement students.
o Completion of staff training with new and existing QA Team members.
o Department task list management and allocation of duties on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to ensure compliance with required standards.
2. Food Hygiene, Safety, and Legality:
o Daily verification of key CCP records and key operational requirements from production departments.
o Management of factory audits – GMP / G&P / Traceability – ensuring audits are completed to schedule in a timely manner and follow up on close-out actions.
o Preparation of the weekly KPI report.
o Participation during third-party audits (e.g. BRC / Retailer).
o Ensure up-to-date specification/reference material is always in use (approved supplier lists, checkweigher information, QAS documentation).
o Assist with the management of incidents should they arise.
o Problem solving/root cause assessment to identify what has happened (e.g. customer complaints) and assist with completion of investigations and corrective actions.
3. Communication and Working with Other Departments:
o Complete monthly team briefs and collate key points for review and action, circulating to relevant personnel.
o Management of site calibration requirements – point of contact for on-site calibration contractors.
o Involvement with pest control contractor, routine visits, and field biologist, trending and capturing information from in-house pest management practices.
Requirements:
* Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role, such as quality assurance in food manufacturing.
* Demonstrable knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards and legal requirements.
* Experience in leading and managing small teams.
* Able to work independently, use own initiative, and manage workload efficiently.
This is a full-time role, based on 40 hours per week across 5 days Monday - Saturday. The successful candidate will be advised of working hours on a weekly basis, although a flexible approach will be necessary due to changing operational requirements.
