Job Description Engineering Team Lead Hybrid – A minimum of 3 Days a week in the office Heybridge/ Hybrid An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Engineering Team Lead to join our team. You will lead, and line manage a team of engineers that design and develop low voltage power distribution and automation systems. You will be working closely with the programme management team to prioritise and allocate your engineers onto programme and projects to deliver against their engineering schedules. What you will be doing : As an Engineering Team Lead you will be taking responsibility for a team of engineers that support a variety of programmes and projects for automation and low voltage power distribution systems, to meet customer demands and the organisation’s strategic objectives; you will: Report to the Capability Manager, leading and line managing a team of around 15 engineers, who are delivering solutions across multiple projects of varying complexity. Act as the focal point for all aspects related to your teams engineering discipline and resolve technical issues, liaising with the Engineering Governance Team as necessary. Engage with the Programme Management team to ensure that engineering estimates are accurate and achievable so that plans are resourced with the right skills, to deliver against planned and emergent demands. Support the business resource planning activities by providing resource and capability forecasts; including the skillsets (now and predicted) and the tools/infrastructure requirements. Robustly manage the workflow into your team and engage with stakeholders to manage technical delivery of engineering schedules. Report progress against the integrated plans, highlighting issues and identifying any priority calls needed. Effectively communicate technical risks highlighted by your engineers and the technical governance team to the responsible programme management team. Own the commitment, communication, and daily management of your teams resources in support of all programmes and projects. Visibly support a strong, proactive commitment to Continuous Improvement/Lean. Work closely with the engineering governance team to effectively manage your teams professional development. Be a strategic thinker and comfortable with ambiguity - able to define and implement plans that achieve business delivery and growth of capability without being given detailed instruction. To be considered for this exciting role, you will require: Hold a degree or equivalent level qualification in an appropriate engineering discipline or have equivalent industry experience. A proactive, adaptable, and pragmatic mindset, willing to lead and serve your team to ensure they are fully enabled and supported in their work. Proven experience in the management of technical engineering teams, ideally in a design and development context. Understanding of the principles of Product Change Control & Design Change Approval, and the appropriate tools & processes to enable management. It would be advantageous if you: Are professionally registered with an engineering body, ideally at a chartered level. Have experience in the authorship and approval of technical documentation and designs. Hold programme management experience or qualifications to enable you to engage with the PM team effectively.
