Job summary We are looking for a driven, motivated and dedicated professional to join our AFU team. The Acute Frailty Unit accommodates 16 short stay beds both male and female patients. You will be part of a friendly, supportive, and professional integrated team comprising of consultants, Nurses, Occupational therapists, Physiotherapist, co-ordinators, advanced clinical practitioners, social services and community services to offer the best care for our patients in this acute setting. We receive admissions direct from our Emergency Department which encompass a varied range of medical conditions. Patient flow can be fast paced with patients being discharged or admitted to speciality wards. Length of stay on the Unit is usually We are supported by a wide range of services within the Multi-Disciplinary Team to facilitate safe and efficient discharge from our service. Main duties of the job On joining the team, you will receive a full supernumerary induction to give you time to get to know your colleagues and complete the required competencies to secure safe practice. You will develop a wide range of clinical and non-clinical skills to support an advancing career and will develop knowledge of many different medical specialities. We have a dedicated team of Clinical Practice Facilitators who will help you to identify areas of learning and development to enhance your practice. We have continuous clinical senior nursing cover from a team of Band 6 Sisters, Ward Manager and Matrons. Staff Nurses are supported by a team of Health Care Assistants. You will be expected to take on a link nursing role in a specialism that interests you, making you an integral part of our team. As one of the Band 6 Nursing team, you will be supported to develop the necessary skills to manage the team in the absence of the Band 7 Ward Manager.
