Due to the needs of the Shared Service we are looking to recruit to a vacant position, Team Leader (Benefits), within the Benefits Sector of the Shared Service. To be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the team that deals with the assessment and delivery of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction Scheme (Support).
Duties include:
* Report to Assessment Manager and deputise in their absence.
* To maintain efficient operation of the team through day-to-day supervision.
* Ensure that all claims for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support are paid promptly and accurately.
* Ensure that the gateway to benefit is secure by reducing the instances of fraud and error through compliance with DWP HB Security Guidance.
* Liaise with the QA Officers regarding the training needs of the team.
* To deal with difficult or complex assessments and correspondence.
* To undertake quality checks to monitor staff performance and maximise subsidy.
* Manage the integration of newly trained members of staff into the team by using the mentoring system and monitor performance.
* Monitor performance against requirements, standards and targets, the Corporate Plan, the Service Business Plan and individual Team Key Work and Performance Objectives.
* Administrative matters in relation to Universal Credit
We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated applicants with a working knowledge of Benefits and Council Tax and an eye for detail. The work is challenging and therefore the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines is essential.
