A position has now become available for a Catering Supervisor, Band 4 at Trafford Hospital Division working as part of the Estates and Facilities Team.
The job entails working within a very busy department where no day is ever the same. If you are an organised, self-motivated, pro-active, problem-solving individual then this is the post perfect for you. You will be responsible for the efficient day-to-day operation of the Catering Department and Catering Team for the Trafford Division in liaison with the wider Clinical Teams.
You will be responsible for the first line management of the Catering team within the department, delivering high-quality services in a cost-effective manner, implementing best practice solutions to inform and support continuous service improvement models, monitoring service provision, ensuring a prompt effective response to any service failures, and ensuring a high-quality environment is maintained for our patients, staff, and visitors.
The post holder must hold a Catering Diploma in Hotel Services Supervision, and Intermediate and Advanced Food Hygiene as well as an excellent working knowledge of Food safety especially HACCP.
Main duties of the job
1. To oversee the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
2. Allocate staff and resources to ensure food is provided safely and of the required quality, quantity and standard.
3. Accept deliveries, store, prepare, cook, regenerate and present all food (including special and ethnic diets) following HACCP procedures in line with the service specification.
4. Assist in the planning of menus and ordering of supplies in conjunction with the Assistant Facilities Manager.
5. Provide supervision, instruction and guidance to all catering staff.
6. Liaise with the Assistant Facilities Manager regularly about all aspects of the catering service and with clients and customers regarding food quality.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Level 3 in Literacy and Numeracy
* Holds or be willing to work towards a level 3 in food safety
* Knowledge of HACCP and Food Safety
* Able to complete quality Control documentation accurately and to a schedule
* Responsible for day-to-day supervision or co-ordination of staff within a section/function of a department/service
* Able to plan staff deployment, including managing rotas and allocating leave, ensuring continuous cover, within budget restraints
* Ability to manage the ordering, receipt, storage and distribution of stock with allocated resources
* Experience of working within the NHS
* Understanding of acute hospitals
* Flexible to the demands of the service.
