Main duties of the job
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will provide assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction under the supervision of a more senior Occupational Therapist.
An integral part of this role will be supervising others, with a focus on supporting student education within the team. This role includes opportunities for learning, development and research, supported by a robust appraisal and supervision structure based on RCOT's Career Development Framework.
Job Responsibilities
Post: Occupational Therapist (Band 5)
Salary: £35,453 per year increasing to £38,237 per year post preceptorship
Base: Cygnet Hospital Beckton, New Dawn Ward (Tier 4 Personality Disorder)
Responsible for:
* The post holder will be the Occupational Therapist for New Dawn Ward (Tier 4 Personality Disorder).
* Supervision of 1 x OT Assistant (following preceptorship)
Responsible to: Head OT (Cygnet Hospital Beckton)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Overview of site/Ward:
New Dawn Ward at Cygnet Hospital Beckton is an 18 bed specialist Tier 4 Personality Disorder service. Women can be admitted to New Dawn if they have a diagnosis of personality disorder, exhibit self-harming behaviour and are able to accept the need for help. Service users can be informal or detained under the Mental Health Act.
As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide direct clinical care which will encompass OT assessments, treatment and management of individuals/interventions and support for individuals within the service. In this role you will assess, implement and develop an OT treatment programme according to an individual's identified needs. This will be based upon findings from assessments including associated risks, in order to develop treatment plans accordingly within the multidisciplinary team.

The Successful Candidate should be/have:
* A registered Occupational Therapist with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council)

* Excellent communication and time management skills
* Passionate about student education
* Ability to manage demanding clinical presentations
* Some experience in the field of adult mental health
* Working as a Band 5 OT or are a newly qualified OT
* Able to effectively lead a team with support from Senior OT staff
