About us
The King’s Health Partners Clinical Trials Office is a collaboration between King’s College London, Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. It was set up to provide a single interface for those wishing to conduct clinical trials within the partner organisations, and to ensure that there are common, efficient processes for the set up and administration of clinical trials.
About the role
Working with the KHP-CTO Director to provide senior leadership to the King’s Health Partners organisations comprising of a streamlined administrative function to support the management of commercial clinical trials across the partner institutions and a Quality Operations and Compliance function to support non-commercial trials sponsored by the Partners.
This will include delivery of the NIHR National Contract Review initiative in combination with the KHP CTO distribution model as well as ensuring there are efficient processes to obtain rapid approval of trials through the Health Research Authority, MHRA and the KHP organisations R&D departments.
The post holder will play a pivotal role in the senior leadership team of the CTO, leading on modernisation of systems and processes, operational management of the Commercial trials and Quality teams, and acting as an expert advisor for staff across Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust Kings College Hospital Foundation Trust, South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and King’s College London. You will support the Director of the CTO to set strategy, monitor KPIs through the development of a CTO Dashboard, and have oversight of all aspects of the CTO’s operational management.
The post holder acts as the designated deputy to the KHP-CTO Director in his/her absence and when required.
The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of working with both commercial and non-commercial clinical trials and have an excellent understanding of the NHS R&D landscape.
This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
1. Postgraduate qualification at Masters level in a health related discipline, or equivalent experience
2. Significant leadership experience, including performance and operational management of complex teams within a large and highly research active context, working across multiple sites and organisations.
3. Extensive knowledge and experience of EU and UK Regulatory Frameworks for clinical trials.
4. Significant experience of working with NHS Trusts and Universities on R&D and clinical trial matters
5. High level of work organisation, self-motivation, drive for performance and improvement, and flexibility in approach and attitude
6. Highly developed leadership, influencing, negotiating and relationship building skills.
7. Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and influencing skills, alongside practical, sound numeracy and problem solving skills

1. Strong evidence of continuous professional development
2. Experience representing employing organisation on national committees and working groups
3. Working with the Pharmaceutical Industry on R&D and clinical trial matters
4. Ability to manage through influence and negotiation in a complex environment
