We’re a growing brand with a strong presence in the UK and plans to expand into the EU, we’re looking for an In-House Legal Counsel to join our passionate team and provide expert legal guidance on a flexible, part-time basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified solicitor who is looking for a flexible working arrangement —4 to 6 days per month—to make a meaningful impact on a dynamic and creative business.
The Role:
As our In-House Legal Counsel, you’ll provide part-time, ongoing legal support to our internal teams. You’ll help us navigate the legal aspects of commercial contracts, intellectual property, consumer protection, data protection, property law, employment law, and more. You will work closely with key stakeholders across the business to help navigate legal challenges and ensure the company’s continued success, growth, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide day-to-day legal support to internal teams on a variety of legal matters including contracts, intellectual property, employment law, and marketing.
2. Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, supplier agreements, and other business-related documents.
3. Advise on the protection of Joe Browns’ intellectual property, including trademarks, design rights, and copyright.
4. Ensure compliance with relevant UK and EU regulations, including consumer law, data protection (GDPR), and product safety.
5. Support the HR team on employment law matters, from contracts to dispute resolution.
6. Monitor legal developments in the fashion, retail, and e-commerce industries and advise the business accordingly.
7. Manage legal risk and act as a trusted advisor to senior management and key departments.
8. Work with external counsel as needed to manage more complex or specialized legal matters.
9. Assist with corporate governance and ensure the company’s legal obligations are met.
10. Provide legal guidance across other areas as required, with an emphasis on practical, business-friendly solutions.
Key Requirements:
1. Qualified Solicitor with 2-5 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE), ideally with in-house experience in a fashion, retail, or ecommerce business.
2. Strong knowledge of UK commercial, intellectual property, employment law, and consumer law.
3. Experience with data protection regulations (GDPR) and e-commerce laws is desirable.
4. A flexible, solution-oriented approach with the ability to prioritize and manage a variety of legal matters.
5. Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
6. A good understanding of the fashion/retail industry and the unique legal challenges it presents.
7. Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
8. Passion for fashion and a genuine interest in Joe Browns’ ethos and values.
9. Availability to commit to 4-6 days of work per month, with flexibility for remote work when practical.
