Working as a Summer School Activity Leader allows you to earn more than just money. You ll gain the transferable skills that future employers are looking for. You ll enjoy meeting new people and experiencing new challenges. What does it involve? Every year, from late June to August, we welcome hundreds of young students (aged 8-17) from different parts of the world. Our aim is to provide them with a fun and educational holiday experience, which includes English language classes and engaging activities and excursions. And that's where you come in We look for enthusiastic and energetic professionals to join us as Activity Leaders in Canterbury, supporting our students on a wide range of activities and excursions. Activities range from sporting, drama, arts to quizzes, discos, fashion shows; the list goes on. Excursions involve leading groups to theme parks, city tours, historical sites etc. and you are supported with the materials you need to make these activities/excursions exciting. Contracts: You can choose your contract length for at least 4 weeks between late-June to late-August. The work is up to 6 days per week with variable hours (maximum 48 hours per week) What s in it for you as an Activity Leader? With appraisals and training, this role is ideal for your continuous professional development. You are welcomed and supported with a full induction and training on your first day and throughout your contract. Lots of our Activity Leaders return in the following summers, giving them the option to progress to more senior roles within our Summer Holiday programmes and beyond. Opportunities to gain teaching qualifications at the end of your contract. Pay: Rates in 2024: 11.55 per hour (Age 21) 10.69 per hour (Age 18-20) plus holiday entitlement - these rates will be reviewed in January 2025 You must already have the right to work full time hours in the UK during summer. You don t need to have specific qualification, be an expert in a particular activity or be a good sportsperson, but you must have an interest and the ability to lead the varied activities for groups of young people. You must be professional, friendly and have a good understanding of how to support the well-being of young people. Be flexible, adaptable, and able to think on your feet This is a really active position, so you need plenty of energy Be a great communicator with a good level of spoken and written English Safeguarding is a big part of the job, and we take it very seriously.
