An exciting new position has come available for our client based in Wednesbury for a Shift Team Leader in the manufacturing department.
Working rotating 3 shifts (6am - 2pm, 2pm - 10pm and 10pm - 6am)
THE ROLE:
* Provide direct supervision to the Multi-Disciplined Utility Operators and Production Personnel. This includes leading, coaching, motivating, and directing their professional development going forward.
* Be an active member of the manufacturing process within the shop floor area, including having continuous knowledge of the production process and the issues that arise during each shift.
* Assist with the set-up of machines and equipment within the production area.
* Inspect items produced after tooling changes and during general production within the manufacturing arena with the operators to determine if they meet specifications set by external regulators.
* Ensure manning levels are maintained to desired levels to meet production planning requirements and maintain/produce overtime/holiday forms as required.
* Ensure breakdowns are reported promptly via L2L, ensuring a speedy response is received to alleviate loss of production.
* Assist the maintenance department in solving both technical and breakdown issues where possible.
* Provide full support to the Multi-Discipline operators with the day-to-day management of the production process.
* Continuously look at working methods or equipment to enhance the performance of the manufacturing arena.
* Communicate with operators to resolve issues and motivate the teams to achieve business goals.
* Ensure effective communication during shift changes so that the next shift leader has full knowledge of production plans and manning issues.
* Carry out or assist in the disciplinary/grievance processes within the manufacturing area.
* Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Willing to demonstrate personal abilities at GCSE level or equivalent, e.g. City and Guilds standard.
The successful candidate will also need to be qualified or willing to work towards a Team Leader or supervision qualification.
(The Company recognizes that this may not necessarily involve the achievement of School/College academic qualifications, but may be demonstrated in work experience and past/current performance and achievements.)
Must have previously operated within a production environment and be able to demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, and people management skills.
The ability to demonstrate a good understanding of Tube Production and extrusion is a requirement for this role (though training would be provided).
Self-motivated and willing to learn new management techniques is also a mandatory requirement.
Experience in a high volume and small batch, results-focused, manufacturing production environment is desirable.

In return, our client offers a basic salary whilst training of £38K per annum, rising to a minimum of £40K per annum, excellent company benefits, and a genuine opportunity to progress into management.
