Senior Legal Advisor – Edinburgh.
Part Time – 22 hours/weekly

We are delighted to partner with our client, a highly regarded, established utilities business based Edinburgh City Centre.
The role of Senior Legal Advisor is both interesting and a very varied.
Key areas of responsibility include;
Providing high quality, accurate legal advice for the business, ensuring that regulatory and legal compliance is promoted and maintained across all departments.
The role is responsible for advising the Leadership team and key internal stakeholders on all legal obligations and providing guidance on all legal matters across the business.
The role is accountable for ensuring the business is aware of and prepared for changes or proposed changes in legislation that may have an impact.
Key accountabilities/tasks:
* Manage relationship with external legal counsel and the company secretary, ensuring compliance with all company secretarial matters.
* Work with the Head of Regulation, Compliance and Legal to influence the development of legislative, regulatory and market frameworks.
* Providing day-to-day legal support and guidance within the business, across areas such as employment law, data protection, competition law, and debt recovery.
* Reviewing, amending and negotiating commercial contracts with suppliers, partners and Third-Party Intermediaries.
* Providing assistance and guidance to the Head of Procurement and the Sales team with supplier, customer and Third-Party Intermediary (TPI) contract support as required.
* Assisting the Sales and Commercial Directors to develop partnership contracts and framework agreements to promote and deliver services to customers, ensuring we deliver mutually attractive propositions.
* Keeping up to date with legislative issues that may impact the organisation.
* Reviewing and recommending changes to policies and procedures as and when required.
* Provide support and assurance to colleagues on any changes to company policies, processes or ways of working, in response to changes to regulatory and legal frameworks.
* Providing support to the Commercial Director with any future acquisitions.
* Being an advocate for good governance across the organisation.
* Act as a role model who embraces change and considers the bigger picture.

Knowledge and experience of operating at a senior level in a regulated environment is preferred, particularly within Utilities, Government regulated agencies and industries (eg, energy, telecoms, etc).
An understanding of the UK political and policy environment, with particular reference to utilities is preferred but not essential.

* This is a highly commercial role, and to succeed, you must be able to work in a dynamic fast paced environment with a customer centric focus.
* Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, including the ability to produce high quality written responses.
* Ability to work effectively across the organisation and with external stakeholders. Presenting regularly to the Board and Executive Leadership Team.
* Excellent attention to detail is essential.
* Problem solver, with proven conceptual, analytical and strategic thinking skills
* Self-starter, confident and proactive in your approach to new tasks and can manage your time across a range of competing projects and priorities.
