Are you looking to grow your legal career? The successful Personal Injury File Handler Assistant will assist larger loss fee earners and partners by taking responsibility for elements of file handling, adhering to strategies as well as undertaking tasks under the guidance of the lead File Handler which will assist in facilitating the settlement of cases and the closure of files within agreed SLA’s.
Key Accountabilities
1. Acknowledging instructions, initially liaising with clients, Court and parties.
2. Fixing dates for consultations/ PTMs, liaising with counsel’s clerks, expert witnesses, clients.
3. Lodging appropriate documentation at Court and serving upon any third parties where applicable.
4. Liaising with the Insured and witnesses with a view to drafting precognitions and issuing citations.
5. Obtaining additional information and/or documentation from the insurer client and/or third parties to progress the negotiations.
6. Dealing with CRU matters.
7. Liaising with Keepers/ opponents re suitable dates for motions, Proofs, etc to call.
8. Enrolling motions.
9. Identifying and inputting key dates.
10. Reviewing medical records/ earnings records.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications
1. Previous File Handling experience is a must, ideally in Personal injury/Disease/Relevant Litigation experience.
2. We also welcome applications of Legal Secretaries (please note there will not be much typing involved in this role).
