The post holder works as a skilled practitioner and is responsible for the delivery of patient-focused programmes of care, which address the complex and changing health and well-being needs of the client group in his/ her clinical area. The post holder ensures the smooth running of the ward / department in the absence of the Ward Sister/ Charge Nurse and provides clinical and managerial leadership to nursing and support staff.
Main duties of the job
Ward 8 has a vacancy for a dynamic, highly motivated and experienced nurse practitioner to join our department. Experience in participating or leading on improvement programmes is desirable with an interest in improving clinic efficiencies and exploring new ways of working and service transformation. You must possess good communication skills and be able to work well as part of a team. You must be flexible in your approach and be able to respond appropriately to the demands of an ever changing workload.

1. To carry out responsibility for the department in the absence of the senior sister.
2. To provide a clear focus for clinical leadership and to be responsible in ensuring the provision of high standard of holistic, patient-centered care.
3. Support and promote the trust values and departmental objectives.
4. You must be confident, hardworking and reliable with excellent communication skills.
5. You must be a pro-active role model in supporting clinical and developmental supervision to all staff and students.

Education and Qualifications
* Ophthalmic experience
* Broad clinical knowledge base in ophthalmology
Knowledge and Experience
* Evidence of Leadership, management and speciality development
* Leadership course completed
* Experience in mentoring/facilitation/teaching/assessing/coaching
* Evidence of mentoring/facilitation/coaching courses completed
Skills and Knowledge
* Excellent organizational ability
* Creative, resourceful and imaginative

Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 a year per annum pro rata
