Role Overview:
As a Senior Technician, you will play a vital role in identifying and addressing transport needs for Adult Social Care and Health (ASCH) services. You will ensure compliance with financial, procurement, and legal regulations while supporting contract compliance and resolving operational issues.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct site inspections and surveys, addressing routine issues and escalating as needed.
2. Assist in preparing tender and contract documents, analysing responses, and supporting the award process.
3. Collaborate with colleagues and contractors to ensure effective service delivery.
4. Lead projects to implement new procurement and ICT processes.
5. Supervise and support staff, fostering their development.
6. Manage in-house services, ensuring drivers and vehicles operate safely and cost-effectively.
7. Produce reports, statistical records, and correspondence, and conduct data analysis.
8. Maintain records of service performance and contract compliance, escalating breaches as needed.
9. Support the wider Specialised Transport team, particularly during busy academic periods.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience: Proven experience in routine scheduling and understanding small vehicle transport operations. Experience in planning, monitoring, and evaluating transport delivery.
Skills and Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of procedures and regulations for transport provision. Strong analytical, problem-solving, numeracy, and literacy skills. Proficiency in ICT systems and the ability to contribute to the development of new systems.
Personal Attributes: Excellent organisational, timekeeping, and communication skills. Ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders and work both autonomously and as part of a team.
Qualifications:
Newly qualified or part-qualified in a relevant subject, or considerable relevant practical experience.
