Joiner
We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Joinery, Tradesperson to join our Facilities team!
The successful candidate will be expected to work unassisted or within a team depending on the works being carried out, working closely with other trades such as, electricians, mechanical, and campus handypersons. At times they may need to assist or work alongside external contractors. The Tradesperson (Joiner) must have a good knowledge, understanding and experience in building construction. The successful candidate will be expected to have good knowledge of all woodworking machinery, handheld portable power tools and Joinery hand tools.
Tradesperson (Joiner) shall be committed to learn and develop their skills and competences that can be demonstrated by either having possession of a minimum 3-year time served indentured City and Guilds qualification in Carpentry & Joinery or NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry & Joinery.

Key Responsibilities
The Tradesperson (Joiner) will be responsible for the maintenance and repairs on the external and internal fabrics and fittings of the Universities buildings, supervising small projects, new door and frame Installs, fire door maintenance and repairs across the estate. They will also be expected to be able to work on composite, upvc, metal doors, frames and windows along with all traditional wood types.
You may at times be expected to work a flexible working week outside of the agreed shift pattern, this would be dependent on the needs of the business. This may include early starts, late finishes and the occasional weekend work.
The role will Involve being on the trades on-call-rota and the Christmas break on- call-rota.

Estates & Facilities Services Directorate is responsible for delivering a full estates and facilities management service to the University, including property maintenance, planned maintenance, fire safety compliance, renovation, cleaning, security, caretaking and facilitating spaces for our staff and students.
The Facilities Management team sits within the Estates and Property Service Division. Their core objective is to provide an essential and critical Facilities Management services across all campuses, to ensure the buildings and general estates are pleasant, fit for purpose and functional for everyone.
