Consultant Psychiatrist-Haringey West Core Team

At North London NHS Foundation Trust we provide integrated mental health services to the people of North Central London, as well as some services regionally and nationally. We employ almost 6000 staff, which makes us one of the largest employers in our area. We provide our services to children, adults, and older people from over 20 sites. We support people to overcome the hurdles they face with their health and wellbeing. We support them to get back into the community and to live as independently as they can. We aim to give people the skills they need to look after themselves with our support in the community. When they need a higher level of care, we provide that on our wards.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to provide joint clinical leadership for the West Core Team, working alongside 1 other Consultant. Responsibilities include:
1. Contributing to the assessment of newly referred cases and formulating appropriate treatment plans in collaboration with colleagues.
2. Conducting medical reviews for patients, including monitoring mental, physical, and psychological wellbeing.
3. Managing community emergencies, including home visits.
4. Acting as Responsible Clinician for clients treated under Community Treatment Orders.
5. Complying with legal obligations covering clinical practice.
6. Maintaining electronic records and participating in routine outcome monitoring.
7. Supervising and facilitating learning for medical staff and other professionals.
8. Participating in the North Sector Consultant Psychiatrist on-call rota (1:32).
9. Participating in team meetings and other duties that contribute to the clinical team's functioning.
10. Providing clinical and professional leadership and participating in management activities.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Qualifications or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
* Open Dialogue Training.
* Full Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a current licence to practise.
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
* Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
* Section 12 Approved or able to achieve within three months of appointment.
* In good standing with GMC.
Transport
* Holds and will use a valid UK driving licence or provides evidence of proposed alternative.
Clinical skills, knowledge and experience
* Excellent knowledge in specialty.
* Excellent clinical skills using a bio-psycho-social perspective.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
* Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
* Makes evidence-based decisions.
* Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA.
* Wide range of specialist experience relevant to the post.
Academic Skills and lifelong learning
* Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training.
* Ability to work in and lead a team.

Salary: £105,504 to £139,882 a year plus £2,162 of London Zone Weighting per annum.
