Job summary An exciting opportunity has arose within the Neurosurgical Unit at Cardiff & Vale UHB, the department is welcoming applications into the Neuro-Oncology Fellowship post CCT. With our robust and future proofed investments in technology and access to research, we hope to recruit a high calibre individual who has been successful in the FRCS examinations and would like to further their experience of Neuro-Oncology techniques. Based on the success of this recruitment and the skills achieved, an application will be made to the Royal College of Surgeons for Fellowship accreditation. the post is available from 5th August 2025 for 12 months and is not recognised for training. The Senior Clinical Fellow in Neuro-Oncology will work primarily with the Neuro-Oncologyconsultants, as well as the whole Neurosurgical MDT team. They shall attend operating lists, oncology clinics (including a dedicated Low Grade Glioma Clinic) and weekly Neuro-Oncology MDT. With additional time dedicated to also attend Neuro-Oncology clinics in Velindre Cancer Centre, and to participate in the SRS service. Whilst they will be expected to take part in the middle grade on-call rota for general neurosurgery, there will be no regular daytime non-specialist clinical commitments unless it is deemed necessary. This Senior Clinical Fellow post will also participate in research work. There is a weekly educational meeting which the fellow will be expected to attend and contribute to. Main duties of the job The successful applicant will be required to perform clinical work within the neurosurgical service. The appointee will work closely with the medical and surgical teams. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the teaching of medical students and junior doctors. The appointee will be expected to undertake audit, and be encouraged to take on clinical research projects depending on the interests of the successful applicant(s).
