We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Planning Manager (Band 5) to lead an essential team within the Welsh Blood Service. The Planning team work collaboratively with the operational teams within the Collections Department to ensure a robust collection plan is in place which meets hospital demand and provides an opportunity for the public of Wales to donate vital blood products contributing to the health of the nation.
We are looking for a person with experience of planning and scheduling with the ability to produce accurate and efficient plans working to agreed deadlines. An ability to work with competing priorities and communicate well with internal and external stakeholders. The post holder will provide line management to the deputy planning manager and planning administration assistant.
This person will be able to work both autonomously and as part of a team. They will be dynamic, adaptable, with the ability to manage time well and be motivated in their approach to service delivery. This role not only supports the operational side of blood collection but also contributes to saving lives, making it a rewarding career choice.
The planning department operates between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday, based primarily at Talbot Green with an option for some remote working. Also, the requirement to travel between sites and across a wide geographical area.
Main duties of the job
To ensure clinic schedules maximise collection staffing resource ensuring maximum clinic efficiency and donor attendance
Support the development of complex annual and longer term donor clinic plans in order to provide delivery of sufficient blood and blood component donors to donation clinics to meet the needs of the Service and hospitals. This will require close coordination with other WBS departments, in particular the Collection Department and a wide variety of external stakeholders including the other NHS organisations such as hospitals, universities and colleges, public and private organisations, sporting and charitable organisations.
Fixed term/secondment for 12 months due to maternity cover
