GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Autism Support Worker to work in a welcoming school in Winton.
About the Role:
As an Autism Support Worker, you will work closely with students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), providing tailored support to meet their individual needs. Your role will involve working one-to-one or in small groups, helping students with their learning and emotional development in a structured and supportive environment.
This role is ideal for individuals who want to make a real difference in the lives of children by helping them develop communication, social, and independence skills. Both full-time and part-time opportunities are available.
As an ASC Support Worker, you’ll be doing:
* Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with autism.
* Assist with the development of communication and social interaction skills.
* Implement individual learning plans and behaviour strategies.
* Work collaboratively with teachers and SENCOs to support student progress.
* Help students develop independence and life skills.
* Create a calm and structured learning environment.
* Support students with sensory and emotional regulation techniques.
Autism Support Worker Requirements:
* Experience working with children or young people with autism or additional needs as a Autism Support Worker.
* A background in education, psychology, social care, or speech and language is desirable.
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
* Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting neurodiverse learners.
* Understanding of autism-specific strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or sensory-based interventions (desirable but not essential).
