With over 38 years of industry experience, we are a market leader in the design, manufacture, and installation of materials handling and heavy engineering solutions across various sectors. We are renowned for our commitment to innovation, quality, and service excellence.
The Role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer specialising in Bulk Materials Handling, you will be instrumental in developing and implementing advanced materials handling systems across a range of industries. Working within a collaborative engineering team, you’ll apply your technical expertise to design and optimize systems that improve operational performance, efficiency, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Contribution: Play a central role in bulk materials handling projects, focusing on high-quality, technically sound design solutions within project timelines and budgets.
2. Technical Expertise: Provide in-depth engineering knowledge on conveyor systems, chutes, feeders, hoppers, and other bulk handling equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and reliability.
3. Design and Analysis: Develop and validate the design of material handling systems, performing necessary calculations for load, capacity, and material flow.
4. Client Interaction: Work directly with clients to understand requirements and ensure that engineering solutions align with their operational needs.
5. Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all designs comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements, with a strong emphasis on safety.
6. Documentation: Prepare detailed engineering reports, specifications, and documentation for both internal and client use.
7. Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the ongoing development of materials handling processes and stay informed about innovations and best practices in the field.
8. Collaborative Support: Work closely with sales engineers, project managers, and directors to align project work with broader engineering objectives.
Experience & Qualifications
1. Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
2. Experience: At least 10 years of experience in bulk materials handling, including significant exposure to conveyor systems, feeders, and hoppers.
3. Technical Proficiency: Expertise in relevant software tools, such as AutoCAD, Tekla, AdvanceSteel or similar for design, and FEA tools for stress analysis. Knowledge of simulation software (e.g., DEM software like EDEM or Rocky) is a plus.
4. Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with experience in identifying practical and efficient solutions for complex technical issues.
5. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of clearly presenting complex technical information to clients and stakeholders.
6. Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with industry standards and a strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to materials handling.
You will ideally live within the Worksop area; however, if you do live further afield and you are an outstanding candidate, we can offer a hybrid solution.
