Job summary
As Tug Master you provide a tug towage service appropriate to the service demands of the day, within the constraints of the hours of rest regulations.
You are responsible for the safety and operational efficiency of the vessel and crew, demanded by the statutory requirements related to a vessel's Master.
You will act as onboard manager of the tug when on duty or call and be skilled and experienced in handling the tug in all weather conditions and be fully proficient in operating the propulsion systems in all available modes.
You must understand the operating principles of the vessel in relation to stability, watertight integrity, ship construction, FFA, LSA, towing equipment and limitations. To ensure that the crew are similarly educated and understand the importance of this knowledge.
Be fully conversant with the port's VSM system, being fully engaged with its requirements, developments and reviewing, whilst also ensuring that the crew are familiar with its content and applications. You are also responsible for ensuring that daily routines are effectively planned and executed, including the periodic planned maintenance tasks.
This will be working on a week on week off basis.
Skills and Qualifications
* Hold a valid minimum STCW 95 II/3 Master <500GT as a minimum - (Master 3000GT desirable)
* Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a Senior Deck officer.
* Valid GMDSS certification
* Valid ENG1 certification
* Strong understanding of the International Safety Management (ISM )
* Experience in operating ASD (Azimuth Stern Drive)
* Recent towage operation experience
* Strong problem-solving skills and strive to find solutions
* Flexible and can-do attitude and approach

Due to the nature of this role, you must either live within 1 hrs travelling distance from the Port of Dover or be willing to stay locally in the company provided accommodation.

Salary: IRO £63k
