Business Controlling Manager

Position Summary
Thales is looking for a Business Controlling Manager that will report to the Finance Director of Bids and Projects and directly supports the IFE Bid & Project team and associated functions. The position will focus primarily, and ultimately responsible for, three key pillars: execution of the department’s centralized reporting and analysis of financials, ownership of the Program Finance department’s systems and associated architecture to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the platforms outputs, and lastly, drive automation and continuous improvement alongside Finance Partners and Information Management.
In this position you will also play a pivotal lead role working closely with the Finance Director, Project Control and Bid Managers to drive business line profitability, assist in the development of financial strategies and solutions in a fast paced environment and lead the transformation and improvement of the department’s processes, reporting and data reliability. The “BCM” will control all facets of the department’s financial reporting network and will guide Finance, Program Management, Customer Delivery, and Executive teams through tasks such as financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and project accounting.
Key Areas of Responsibility
1. Partner with all levels of the Customer Success organization and Bid and Program Finance to ensure robust financials and operational governance from bid to project delivery; Partner with the AVS accounting team and project controllers to ensure timely and accurate financial statements and closings; Develop strategies in conjunction with department leads to improve the overall Program Finance processes and drive execution.
2. Responsible for the consolidation of financial deliverables including forecasts, multi-year budgets (MYB), strategic business plans (SBP), dashboards and other program portfolio level reporting; Ensure program revenues, costs, amortization and contract variances are properly recorded, reconciled and analyzed by the project control team.
3. Responsible for the evaluation and program assessment of contingencies, project efficiencies, and analysis at the BL level; Ensure the bid and program control team is evaluating and assessing program contingencies and program efficiency metrics, reviewing trends and providing forward looking analysis to the customer delivery team; Accountable for ensuring all program financials are consistent with all internal policies & procedures; Provide support for internal and external audit reviews ensuring data accuracy and application of internal processes.
4. Lead annual renewal of the Internal Control Questionnaire (ICQ) to ensure relevancy and governance; Ownership of the financial reporting network (data, connections, reports & affiliated schedules/submissions); Provide technical support with regards to program finance system architecture and data interpretation.
5. Lead with emphasis on automation and improvement: Develop and execute digital solutions and innovations alongside technical and finance counterparts to reduce redundancies and resource intensive exercises; Become subject matter expert and department lead for systems, centralized financials and processes.
6. Manage, grow and lead team toward successful execution of deliverables.
Minimum Qualifications
7. Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting with 8+ years of relevant accounting or finance related experience or a Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting with 6+ years of relevant accounting or finance related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
8. Financial analysis and financial modeling experience, budgeting, forecasting, and planning; Managing budgets, conducting in-depth financial analysis, creating and driving recommendations experience; Experience with principles of revenue and cost recognition and deferral, and financial statements; Strong technical and financial systems background required; Preparing estimates to complete and project accounting analysis experience required.
9. Financial Systems (i.e. SAP, Primavera, BPC, PowerBi, Access); Strong technical skills (Microsoft Office), including advanced Microsoft Excel experience; Ability to handle multiple financial projects and adapt to changing priorities; Ability to work independently and as a leader to provide sound financial advice to Executive Management, Customer Success, Bid and Project Control, and AVS Accounting.
10. Excellent judgment, planning and organizational skills; Analytical rigor and detail orientation; Ability to receive general instructions on what is to be done, limitations, quality and quantity expected, deadlines, and priority of assignments from Director and CFO; Uses initiative to ensure all recurring assignments independently without specific instruction are completed accurately and on time; Past leadership, general management and/or project management is a plus.

What We Offer
The anticipated TTC range for this role is 106,545.81 - $209,267.60 USD Annual. The Company reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s status protected by local, state, or federal law.
