Category Strategy Specialist – Defence & Public Sector - £400 a day inside IR35

Due to continued success in our defence and public sector portfolio, we are seeking Category Strategy Specialists with experience in procurement, category management, and strategic sourcing to support UK-wide transformation programmes.
About the Role
As a Category Strategy Specialist, you will play a key role in optimising category management approaches, driving cost efficiencies, and enhancing procurement effectiveness within complex, high-profile programmes. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will shape category strategies that align commercial objectives with operational needs in defence and wider public sector environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement category strategies that drive commercial efficiencies and deliver sustainable value.
* Lead market analysis, supplier engagement, and contract negotiations to optimise supply chain performance.
* Advise on procurement best practices, commercial governance, and risk management.
* Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders to shape procurement policies and frameworks.
* Support capability building and knowledge transfer, enabling long-term transformation and efficiencies.
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience in category strategy, procurement, and commercial management within defence, public sector, or complex regulated environments.
* Strong knowledge of public procurement frameworks, commercial models, and regulatory requirements.
* Ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and influence decision-making at all levels.
* A proactive, adaptable mindset, with the ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-impact projects.
* Active SC Clearance and Sole UK National status due to programme security requirements.
