Gordon Murray Group continues to grow with multiple vehicle programmes currently in development. As a result, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Concept Engineering to lead a newly formed team based initially in Shalford but eventually being based at our HQ in Windlesham.
Key Responsibilities
1. As part of the wider senior management team, this role will act within the GMAe team as a guiding voice in the way we work, our operating processes, and our overall organisation.
2. Act as key stakeholder in the initial vehicle concept development phases of each program.
3. Responsible for the collection and synthesis of early product definition inputs and identification of key technical solutions.
4. Responsible for the vehicle layout and vehicle specification compatible with business, homologation, and attribute targets.
5. Management and development of Concept Phase process, deliverables, and budget.
6. Management of Concept Sign off and handover to Chief Programme Engineer.
7. Working closely with the wider technical and operational business functions to confirm alignment and suitability of product concepts and assumptions.
8. Definition and coordination of strategic component implementation including Carry over Planning / PMXU process.
9. Responsible for the design and coordination of Physical verification assets - bucks and demonstrators.
10. Leading a team of engineers supporting Programme delivery.
11. Management and recruitment of resources in line with business needs.
12. Responsible for technical excellence and delivery of robust engineering solutions.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
1. Proven track record of concept to production in an Automotive background.
2. Experience in small volume desirable.
3. Demonstrable experience of growing & building team and process development from blank paper to mature operations.
4. Understanding of OEM processes, stakeholder networks, and best practices.
5. Catia V5 with V6 knowledge.
6. Ability to build and develop teams.
7. Highly collaborative and able to build strong networks.
8. Ability to communicate at all levels of the business.
9. Leads by example, happy to 'do the doing'.
