Job Description
Utilities Fitter
Redhill and Field-Based
£30,300 - £33,000, plus standby pay and benefits
One of the most important objectives for us all at SES Water is the reduction of leaks and maintenance of our networks. We're currently in a good position with a full reservoir and water stores, but we can't afford to rely on continuous heavy rainfall for our supply. We need to ensure we don't waste a drop.
All of us at SES Water, regardless of whether we are office or field based, share values of Service, Integrity, Collaboration, Commitment, Compassion, and Innovation. In practice, this means we provide our customers (who are very often our colleagues too) with great support and customer care.
As a part of this incredible support network, we are recruiting for an experienced Repair and Maintenance (Utilities) Fitter to join our R&M team. Already experienced within a similar environment, you will be excavating and repairing all sizes of pipe and overseeing the work of a trainee. Sounds easy? It's hard manual work. Our network infrastructure comes in all shapes and sizes and often needs attention outside of office hours in driving wind, pouring rain, sleet, or snow.
Don't worry, we provide protective (and warm) clothing and you'll be well recompensed for standby and rotated weekends.
The Role:
1. Maintaining our high standards for customers, Health and Safety requirements, and environmental considerations.
2. Excavating and repairing all sizes of pipe and ancillary apparatus within the water mains network.
3. Loading and unloading materials, backfilling, and reinstatement excavations.
4. Daily vehicle and plant maintenance checks.
5. Recording all details of work carried out on site.
Requirements:
1. Experience within a similar environment.
2. Cat C1 driving license.
3. The ability to use a range of tools, load and unload materials.
4. Natural ability to respond to customers in a polite and professional manner.
5. Although it is not essential, it would be ideal if you have an EUSR Water Hygiene Card and NRSWA Streetworks Qualification (including signing, lighting, and guarding).
What We Offer:
We offer a range of benefits for your personal and financial wellbeing.
For Your Financial Wellbeing:
1. Salary up to £33,000 per annum.
2. Substantial overtime and standby pay.
3. Employer contribution up to 10% on our Group Personal Pension Plan.
4. Life assurance.
5. Company bonus scheme.
6. Salary Finance: Financial education, loans, and savings.
7. On-site garage with service discount.
For Your Personal Wellbeing:
1. 25 days annual leave increasing to 27 days with length of service.
2. Health care Cash back scheme and Surgical Choices.
3. Aqualibrium - On-site Mental Health First-Aiders and free annual health checks.
4. Confidential crisis support, counselling, and legal advice.
5. One day paid volunteering a year.
We thrive on the knowledge and life experiences of our colleagues, recognising that our differences bring diverse perspectives and make us a great team.
We welcome people that live our values, bring their true selves to work, and have a desire to share their lived experience so that we are fit to serve our communities both now and in the future.
