North West Ambulance Service is looking to recruit a full-time permanent Rostering Coordinator and a six months fixed-term Rostering Coordinator based at Warrington Ambulance Station within the Cheshire & Merseyside Area East Sector.
Main duties of the job
1. You will have responsibility for the resource planning of the St Helens and Warrington Group’s ambulances and rapid response vehicles by the advanced allocation of daily shifts for operational ambulance personnel ensuring the effective cover of all resources.
2. Short notice cover for absences which can be less than 24 hours’ notice using overtime and bank colleagues.
3. The management, maintaining and recording of staff hours/shifts on to the global rostering system including planned shift hours, overtime, annual leave, requests for special leave, sickness absence and training.
4. You will be required to work in partnership with the other rostering coordinators in the sector and Senior Paramedic/ Team Leaders ensuring cover for all contingencies as required.
5. To ensure effective continuation of rota cover for all groups you will support the whole sector when required.
6. You will also produce performance and management information and provide administration and clerical support to the leadership team in the area.
7. You will report directly to the Group Operations Manager.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.
Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed. We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.
Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.
We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Person specification
Formal Qualifications
* Minimum of English & Mathematics GCSE at Grade C and above
* NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration
Previous Experience
* Minimum of six months experience of working within an administration in an operational environment.
* Demonstrate formal training/recognition of experience.
* Experience of working in the NHS and/or a complex ‘front line’ organisation.
Specific Abilities, Knowledge, Aptitude
* Excellent understanding of operational requirements to achieve customer/patient care
* Word Processing Skills
* Excellent knowledge of ‘Windows’ based software packages including Word, Outlook, Excel & Access.
* Ability to follow explicitly written protocols and procedures
* Ambulance or other emergency service knowledge.
* Knowledge of rostering systems.
* Ability to understand new work systems.
