Has your experience of the end-to-end Warehouse Operation, including the receipts, storage, assembly and dispatch of products to stores, been gained working in a highly unionised environment? Then make the move to Sainsbury’s and let your talent shine, playing a vital operational management role that will help ensure our shelves are packed full of everything from toilet rolls to prosecco to toothpaste - whenever they’re needed.

And that’s where you come in because, right now, we’re looking for a Depot Planning Manager to join our Operational Execution, Supply Chain & Logistics team at our distribution centre.
Keeping our shelves full for our customers depends on us having a terrifically tight team, whether on the shop floor or at our distribution centre, where this particular role is based. Your challenge? To lead and manage the day-to-day warehouse Planning and team activities, to ensure the right resource and skill levels are in place to deliver great service to our stores. A great opportunity to bring a leadership approach that promotes an inclusive culture and drives a high performing team whilst also meeting targets, you won’t just be responsible for scheduling relating to workload, trailer fills, daily volumes etc. We’ll also rely on you to make people management decisions in line with legislation, process, policy and our values, manage agency labour and resourcing requirements and make key day-to-day operational judgments in order to deliver on a work plan.
So, what do you need to succeed? A good understanding of the relevant legislation, policy and processes i.e. Working Time directive for driver and warehouse colleagues is essential. So is knowledge of planning applications like Paragon and/or Ortec. Someone who’s used to leading, engaging and inspiring others to deliver successful results in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, building strong working relationships with stakeholders at a variety of levels comes naturally to you. What’s more, you have the confidence to challenge and influence others when appropriate and are great at prioritising and working at pace through large volumes of information, despite a diverse range of pressures. And, if you’re as comfortable taking ownership of depot warehouse plans as you are making time critical decisions or managing agency labour and resourcing requirements, we should definitely talk.
Sainsbury’s offer a genuine opportunity to progress. Indeed, you’ll gain exposure to different parts of the business which will help widen your skillsets and move into other roles in the future. Everyone gets their own personal development plan too, plus there’s a real commitment to wellbeing, D&I, values and work life balance.
The benefits are really good too – including paid holiday, a colleague discount card after 4 weeks that gives you and a second user 10% on most items in Sainsbury’s, Argos and Habitat. Throughout the year we regularly increase discount at Sainsbury’s and Argos to 15% as an additional benefit and food and hot drinks is provided in colleague areas in all our Depots.
