DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Report to the Manager of the Staffing Resource Team.
2. Provide personal patient care, including vital signs, physical assessments, medication administration, monitoring IVs, and telemetry (if CC1 prepared).
3. Set up and operate medical equipment as appropriate.
4. Participate as a member of the Float Pool, Multidisciplinary Team, and Nursing Team at the Oshawa and Whitby sites, specifically on Healthy Aging program units.
5. Maintain competence and professionalism relevant to current nursing practice.
6. Ensure health records are maintained according to hospital policies, procedures, and standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing).
2. Registered Nurse Degree or Diploma from an accredited university.
3. Current B.C.L.S. certification.
4. Recent medical-surgical experience and evidence of ongoing education in related fields.
5. Self-motivated with a focus on continuing education in patient assessment, education, leadership, and clinical specialties.
6. Ability to adapt to changing patient care assignments, units, and hospital sites within the organization.
7. Capability to lift, turn, and transfer patients using mechanical lifts.
8. Skills in patient education and knowledge sharing regarding expected outcomes and care.
9. Strong organizational and prioritization skills, especially in stressful situations.
10. Ability to perform all essential duties of the role.
11. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
12. Commitment to customer service and respectful interaction with patients, families, staff, and the community.
13. Understanding and commitment to safety programs, including staff, patient, and environmental safety, with participation in related education sessions.
14. Alignment with the organization's core values: Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork, and Joy.
15. Good attendance record and satisfactory performance history.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. Employment terms in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and the Ontario Nurses Association (RN Bargaining Unit Local 051).
2. Successful external applicants must provide a recent (within 6 months) satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector.
