Location: Brunel University London, Uxbridge Campus Contract Type: Fixed term, Full – time, 12 months Brunel University London was established in 1966 and is a leading multidisciplinary research-intensive technology university delivering economic, social and cultural benefits. The University has been awarded a grant by the British Council through the International Science Partnerships Fund to appoint three early career fellows, each for a minimum of 6 and up to 12 months, from Egypt to collaborate internationally and gain access to new research environments, facilities, knowledge, and expertise, to enhance the quality of their research environments. Fellows must: Be a permanent resident in Egypt; Be an Early Career Researcher; Not currently in receipt of financial support or funding towards any other programme in the UK from any other sources; Meet the English language requirement of the UK HEI if applicable; Have a background or a proven interest in construction materials/structures, low-carbon and carbon-negative cement & concrete; use cement and concrete as a carbon sink; valorisation of construction & demolition waste; molecular dynamics or thermodynamics modelling of hydration of cement or alternative cement or carbon absorption by cement or alternative cement, etc. Be willing to demonstrate future contributions to capacity-building and socio-economic advancement through the benefits achieved after completing the fellowship programme; and Agree to maintain contact with the British Council for purposes of monitoring and evaluation during and after the fellowship. Besides the application form, you need to upload your: (1) Curriculum vitae (C.V.); (2) a two-page maximum cover letter explaining your meet eligibility and desirable criteria; and (3) a case of support for the fellowship (up to four pages) including (a) a description of your recent work and any planned research outputs; (b) the research work you will conduct in your fellowship aligned with sustainable and resilient built environment research agenda; and (3) how you think this fellowship will help in your contribution to the capacity-building and socio-economic advancement of Egypt. The fellowship provides: £40,507 bursary per annum (pro rata for shorter fellowships); £10,000 per 12 months (pro rata for shorter fellowships) for research-related expenses; and other allowable costs within the grant, such as IELTS exam fee if applicable (for fellows without a valid Test of English). Return economy-class travel from home country to the UK (this will not reimburse costs of fares for dependents); Visa and insurance / NHS surcharge costs; and Ad hoc costs (heavy baggage allowance, etc.) if applicable.
