We are looking for a Practice Nurse who will provide care and demonstrate a safe and high professional standard of nursing care for patients within general practice. They will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients and should have the ability to prioritise, be flexible and responsive to patient needs. The support and delivery of practice policies and procedures is essential.
Main Duties of the Job
As a Practice Nurse, you will assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs. Such tasks may include:
1. Removal of sutures
2. Urinalysis
3. ECGs
4. Cervical screening
5. Peak flow readings
6. Venepuncture
7. Blood pressure measurements
8. Routine immunisations and vaccinations including adults, children/babies, travel and seasonal flu.
9. Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
10. Administering swabs including MRSA swabs
11. Requesting basic pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
12. Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate
13. Working independently of other clinical staff
14. Caring for a patient with a long term condition.
Other Tasks Include:
1. Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs
2. Undertaking housekeeping duties including general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
3. Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels
4. Attending and participating in any Practice meetings when required

* Interest and basic knowledge in long-term conditions
Qualifications
* Evidence of appropriate knowledge base
* Minimum 2 years post registration
* Basic/advanced certificate of life support
