Finance Assistant Location: Peterborough, England, United Kingdom, PE4 5HG Company: Chart Industries The Role We are looking for an ambitious and detail-oriented newly-created Finance Assistant position to join our finance team in Peterborough. Working in a small finance team, reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this role will offer exposure to the Managing Director, Finance Director, wider finance team and other departments. It will support various financial transactions and reporting tasks, while playing a key role in cost budget management. What will you do? - Manage Cost Budgets: Conduct monthly reviews with cost centre owners to assess results, risks, and opportunities against budgets. Produce key reports to help the business understand variances in month-end results, and take ownership of overhead forecasts as part of the budgeting and forecasting process. - Support Project Controller: Assist with WIP management, including weekly labour transaction reviews, timesheet data analysis, and updating and reconciling material and stock transactions. - Assist Accounts Receivable: Issue sales invoices, handle credit note requests, raise order acknowledgements, post daily cash receipts, and follow up with customers on payments. - Support Accounts Payable: Process purchase invoices with 3-way matching against GRN and PO, resolve invoicing discrepancies, and raise payments in the banking system. - Reconcile Balance Sheets: Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and produce month-end journals for review and upload into the accounting system. - Contribute to Monthly Management Accounts: Support the production of monthly management accounts, including deliverables into the Group consolidation system, and work with the Financial Controller on budgeting and forecasting. - Finance Business Partnering : Support the MD, FD and wider finance team with budgeting requirements What do you bring An ideal candidate would likely have the following experience - Professional Qualifications: Ideally, you are part-qualified (AAT/ CIMA) and committed to completing your professional qualification. - High Standards: You maintain very high standards in your work and are focused on achieving team results. - Communication Skills: You are confident and effective in working with non-financial teams and are proactive in engaging others to solve problems. - Resilience and Adaptability: You are resilient, a self-starter with a can-do attitude, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven corporate environment. - Organizational Skills: You are organized, with excellent prioritizing skills, and have a drive to improve current processes. - Technical Proficiency: You are proficient in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel and Word.
