Chef Location: Swanwick Secure Home, Southampton Contract Type: Temporary Salary: £14.90 per hour Myn is recruiting for our long-term client in Southampton. We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Chef to prepare nutritious and well-balanced meals for young people aged 11-17 with diverse dietary needs. This is an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact while maintaining high food hygiene and safety standards. The Role As a Chef, you will play a vital role in ensuring young people receive healthy, tasty, and well-presented meals. You will also support the Chef Manager in planning menus, managing stock, and controlling budgets. Your key responsibilities will include: Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the kitchen. Preparing high-quality meals that meet dietary requirements. Supervising catering assistants, allocating tasks and managing time effectively. Ordering food stock and ensuring deliveries meet quality standards. Monitoring meal service quality, ensuring timeliness and excellent presentation. Adhering to food hygiene, health, and safety regulations at all times. Planning menus in consultation with the Chef Manager and care providers. Preparing meals for special dietary needs in line with IDDSI guidelines. Catering for special events such as birthdays, Christmas, and themed days. Keeping kitchen equipment in full and safe working order. Ensuring high cleanliness standards, managing cleaning schedules, and minimising food waste. Engaging with young residents and attending relevant meetings to understand their needs. What Were Looking For Essential Skills & Qualifications Level 2 in Food and Cooking (or equivalent). Level 2 in Food Safety (or willingness to complete within 3 months). Allergen awareness to ensure food safety. Enhanced Childrens and Adult DBS (or willingness to obtain). Understanding of safeguarding policies and responsibilities when working with young people. Desirable Level 2/3 in Diet and Nutrition.
