Kelly’s customer is seeking an experienced and accomplished Human Resources leader to mentor an aspiring Vice President (VP) of HR. The mentor will guide the mentee in developing strategic leadership capabilities, executive presence, and advanced HR competencies, including labour relations and union negotiation skills, to prepare them for success in a senior executive role.
Responsibilities:
1. Leadership Development:
1. Provide coaching on enhancing strategic thinking, decision-making, and executive leadership skills.
2. Offer insights into managing organizational change and fostering a culture of innovation and engagement.
2. Strategic HR Guidance:
1. Assist in developing skills related to high-level HR functions, including talent strategy, organizational development, and workforce planning.
2. Share best practices for aligning HR initiatives with broader business objectives.
3. Labor Relations & Union Negotiation:
1. Guide the mentee on managing labour relations and building productive relationships with unions.
2. Share insights into navigating collective bargaining, conflict resolution, and maintaining compliance with labour laws.
3. Provide coaching on representing the organization at the bargaining table and achieving mutually beneficial outcomes.
4. Executive Presence:
1. Help the mentee cultivate communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills required at the VP level.
2. Provide feedback on personal branding and influence within executive settings.
5. Problem-Solving and Decision-Making:
1. Support the mentee in navigating complex HR challenges and building confidence in decision-making.
2. Act as a sounding board for sensitive or high-stakes issues.
6. Career Coaching and Feedback:
1. Regularly assess the mentee’s progress and provide constructive feedback.
2. Identify areas for growth and recommend actionable strategies for improvement.
7. Industry Insights:
1. Share insights into industry trends, executive-level HR responsibilities, and evolving best practices.
2. Prepare the mentee to anticipate and adapt to future challenges in the HR landscape.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Proven track record of success in a senior HR leadership role (VP, CHRO, or equivalent).
2. Extensive experience in strategic HR planning, talent management, and organizational leadership.
3. Demonstrated expertise in labour relations, union negotiations, and navigating complex labour dynamics.
4. Strong coaching and mentoring skills, with the ability to inspire and empower emerging leaders.
5. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and feedback delivery skills.
6. Experience in succession planning and leadership development is a plus.
PERKS:
1. Work in a Hybrid role 3 days per week.
2. 6 – 12-month position.
3. $110.00 – $115.00 per hour plus 4% vacation pay.
