About the role
West Northamptonshire Council runs two museums, Abington Park Museum and Northampton Museum and Art Gallery. Our team of Museum Education Facilitators deliver on and off-site museum learning sessions for children and young people of all ages and abilities.
Museum Learning Facilitators are employed on a casual basis. The sessions undertaken by the post holder will be self-selected from a timetable of organised learning activities and outreach, depending on school bookings.
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore subject to an enhanced DBS certificate.
It is also a regulated activity and will be subject to a Children Barred List check. West Northamptonshire Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
What will you be doing?
The post holder will prepare and present learning sessions to school-aged children, encouraging participation through an engaging and stimulating learning environment.
Evaluating sessions and inputting to improvements and development of learning activities.
Maintaining a safe environment and ensuring the health, safety and welfare of all museum users.
About you
You will have an understanding of delivering formal learning and previous experience of working in a learning environment with children of all ages and diverse audiences and have a minimum of 5 GCSEs/NVQ level 2 or equivalent qualification.
Your good interpersonal and presentation skills will enable you to deal with diverse groups and individuals.
You will be creative and imaginative whilst being well organised and methodical.
