Engineering Supervisor - Long Lartin, near Evesham. High Security site. Call for salary.
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Engineering Supervisor to join our Ministry of Justice (MoJ) account. This role is based on-site.
There is a need to work some weekends on a rota basis with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary.
The Engineering Supervisor plays an important part in overseeing and coordinating electrical, plumbing, ventilation, and other building systems works on site.
The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week, across 7 days, with a weekend shift pattern covering 1 in 3 weekends.
Responsibilities:
1. Ensure health, safety, and security of staff, contractors, premises, and equipment by encouraging and monitoring best practices.
2. Develop and implement maintenance procedures and ensure compliance.
3. Supervise and schedule maintenance and trades staff, including electricians, plumbers, and building engineers.
4. Plan and oversee all repair and installation activities.
5. Carry out inspections of facilities to identify and resolve issues.
6. Manage relationships with contractors and service providers.
7. Assist in the delivery of facilities services to the prison in line with contractual commitments.
8. Communicate problems and concerns promptly through line management for quick resolution.
9. Ensure all requirements are met by liaising with HMPS management to manage expectations.
10. Support local and business zero carbon programmes strategically.
11. Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities.
12. Help maintain standards as set out in the Service Level Agreement.
13. Check and sign timesheets in accordance with procedures.
What makes this role unique is you will supervise a team of differently skilled engineers and assist the Site Manager in the operation of the site. Prison Security Clearance will be required (We will support you through this process).
Requirements:
1. Proven experience as a maintenance supervisor or similar role within Facilities/Estate management.
2. Strong technical knowledge of building systems, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.
3. Trade certification to a minimum level 3 or degree in engineering, facility management, or a relevant field.
4. Extensive knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and compliance.
5. Excellent leadership, team management, and man-management skills.
6. Strong organisational and planning abilities.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deal with customers and clients.
In addition to this, it would be desirable if you have IT skills and experience in using Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) systems, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed.
