Banco Santander, S.A. are looking to recruit a senior team member to be based in London as a legal advisor to the Debt Capital Markets and Securitisation businesses (“Debt Capital Markets”). The Legal Capital markets team is part of the global legal team supporting the Corporate and Investment Bank (“CIB”) across the globe.
This is a 6-month Fixed Term Contract, where you’ll have the opportunity to work directly with the front office on a wide variety of market leading transactions and other legal projects associated with the Santander UK & European Capital Markets businesses and contact with our US, Latin American and Asian operations.

The difference you’ll make:
* Structuring, reviewing and drafting pitch docs and mandates, through structuring termsheets to transaction documents, execution and settlement.
* Managing external counsel in MTN draw downs and standalone transactions, private placements and liability management exercises, unlisted and listed trades across a range of European and offshore Exchanges.
* Working on securitisation structures, risk transfer transactions, warehousing, secured lending transactions, including project bonds, high yield and leveraged finance.
* Providing support to the Head of Capital Markets Legal on non-transactional matters and legal projects.
* Carrying out Volcker reviews and managing regulatory projects.
What you’ll bring:
These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:
* English, US or European qualified lawyer with experience from a law firm or in-house in a financial institution.
* Good working knowledge of current securities law and regulations in the UK, Europe and/or US.
It would also be nice for you to have:
* Excellent English oral and written communication skills and a high standard of drafting ability.
* Knowledge of Non-EU exchanges.
* European language skills.
* Good knowledge of derivative structures and documentation.
What else you need to know:
This is a 6-month Fixed Term Contract and is based at our offices in Triton Square, London located within easy walking distance from Warren Street and Euston.
We want our people to thrive at work and home, and also be able to deliver the best outcomes for our customers and to help each other develop. To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 3 days a week (pro-rata for part-time roles).
