Job Summary
Prepare, plan, and operate audio/visual equipment for meetings, events, classes, and seminars at the Salvation Army camps. Ensure camp activities are recorded for use in Salvation Army publications. Capture video and pictures for Salvation Army publications.
Essential Functions
1. Set up, adjust, and operate audio/visual equipment for various camp programs, including worship services and concerts.
2. Operate and install audio/visual equipment.
3. Keep the sound room clean and organized.
4. Report any problems with audio/visual equipment to the Program Director.
5. Secure and lock all audio/visual equipment after each session.
6. Produce a weekly review video for each camp session, including all music camps.
7. Produce a staff video and camp promotional video.
8. Instruct camp employees in the selection, use, and design of audio/visual materials, and assist them in preparing instructional materials and rehearsing presentations.
9. Plan and prepare audio/visual teaching aids and methods for camp classes.
10. Perform simple maintenance tasks such as cleaning monitors and lenses and changing batteries and light bulbs.
11. Maintain collections of audio/visual material such as films, video/audio tapes, photographs, and software programs.
12. Ensure campers and staff follow safety procedures.
13. Participate enthusiastically as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise evening programs, special events, overnights, and other all-camp activities.
14. Sit with camper tables during meals and serve as a table monitor when needed.
15. Keep personal living quarters neat, clean, and ready for inspection.
16. Be available to participate and assist with camp programs and activities as directed by the Camp Director.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Knowledge of media production, communication, dissemination techniques, and methods.
2. Knowledge of electronic equipment and computer hardware/software.
3. Knowledge of the principles and practices of modern video production.
4. Ability to build and maintain effective mentor relationships with children.
5. Ability to communicate effectively with campers and camp staff.
6. Ability to perform life-saving techniques, CPR, and first aid procedures in emergency situations.
7. Ability to operate digital cameras and video equipment.
8. Ability to communicate and work with groups of varying age and skill levels and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff.
9. Ability to observe camper and staff behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.
10. Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental hazards.
11. Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid; must be able to assist campers in emergencies (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess the strength and endurance required to supervise campers.
12. Ability to meet attendance requirements.
13. Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
Education and Experience
Two years of experience in video production preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Some physical requirements of the Camp Audio/Visual Specialist position include endurance for climbing, standing, bending, stooping, and stretching. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate audio/visual equipment are required. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Must have a willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours. Operate with daily exposure to the sun and varying environmental conditions.

Additional Information
Camp Staff Orientation will be held 6/10/2025 – 6/15/2025 and participation is required.
The 2025 Summer Camp program will be held 6/16/2025-7/19/2025. If you are unable to work the entire program session, please let us know on your application.
