An exciting opportunity is available on Locke Ward for a Charge Nurse. We are looking for a passionate, dedicated, caring and experienced senior nurse who is forward-thinking and committed to improving the care and experiences of older people.

Patient-centred care will be at the heart of all you do with the full support of the multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
You will be responsible for the care and development of both junior colleagues and student nurses, creating an atmosphere conducive to learning and practice development, whilst also planning, providing and maintaining effective nursing care to our patients/clients and their relatives. You will work closely with the Ward Manager and Matrons within the Medical Division to provide high standards of patient care.

Main duties of the job
* To provide effective clinical and holistic individualised patient centred care, ensuring delivery is to the highest standard.
* Maintaining evidenced based practice is performed at all times, being responsible for updating own knowledge and skills in line with the Trust policies, multidisciplinary team and the NMC Code.
* Developing leadership skills, actively participating in service development.
* To take charge and run the ward on a shift by shift basis, supporting the ward manager to deliver a well-led unit, acting as an advocate for both staff and patients to ensure safe care to our patients.
Person specification
* Practice Assessor and Supervisor Course
* Post registration course related to Care of the Elderly
* Registered Nurse (Part 1 register)
* 1 year post registration acute medical setting experience
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Clinical nursing work experience in a medical ward
