Job summary Medical Secretary (15 hours per week) The Radiology Administrative team provide a range of secretarial, support and administrative services to our patients and colleagues within the Directorate of Diagnostic Imaging. Main duties of the job This is a cross site post - the post holder will be expected to work at both South Tyneside Hospital and Sunderland Royal Hospital as and when required, although the main office base will be South Tyneside Hospital. As a Medical Secretary you will work closely within a team of secretarial and other administrative staff, providing a wide range of secretarial duties to support the Radiology Department. You will be involved in supporting our clinical teams, urgent reporting processes, appointments processes and general enquiries, providing excellent and timely administrative services to our patients. This is a demanding but very rewarding post, dealing with patients and staff internal and external to the Trust and so requires excellent communication skills and a professional, friendly and approachable manner. You should be educated to GCSE English and Maths grade C/4 or above or equivalent and hold an NVQ Level 3 in business administration or equivalent vocational experience. Effective IT skills are essential as all work is undertaken using a variety of software packages. You will understand the role of the medical secretary and have an understanding or knowledge of working within the Radiology Administrative Team using all Radiology IT systems, including Soliton, Meditech, ICE and PACS. The Radiology Department is open 7 days per week, 24 hours per day. You may be expected to work out with the usual Monday to Friday parameters as part of their normal working week.
