Job Title: People (HR) Business Partner
Salary: £40,000 - £48,300 per annum
Location: Cambridge, UK (hybrid - 40-60% of their time/minimum 2 days per week on-site)
Contract: Fixed Term Contract until 30 April 2026, Full Time 35 hours per week

About the role:
As a People Business Partner, you will play an important role in our transformative People and Culture Strategy and vision. Reporting into the Senior People Business Partner, English and embedded within our English product group, in this complex and varied role you will build trusted partnerships with leaders and managers in the UK and across multiple territories internationally.
In summary, the role supports strategic partnering and delivers operational people partnering activities and projects. It will work closely with managers and employees in CUP&A to support them in delivering effective people leadership and practices. As a member of the wider People team this role will work in conjunction with colleagues to deliver people products and services to the business.
The talented individual should have good knowledge of employment law and ability to translate it into practice. The person should have some experience in handling Employee Relations and have supported worked in multi-disciplinary teams on People & Culture projects.
Key accountabilities
* Support the operationalisation and implementation of the People strategy within the business area.
* Source, analyse and use all data available to identify trends, help inform decision making and drive change across area of responsibility.
* Contribute to People team projects, initiatives and programmes of work to design, deliver and embed products and services in the business.
* With support from Senior BP and Head of Partnering, lead business area focused or broader operational level projects.
* Support the Head of Partnering to drive alignment between People and Culture strategy and business strategy.
* Build effective partnerships with key stakeholders to cultivate strong relationships and bring influence and effective advice/guidance to decision-making and problem solving.
* Coach managers in employment practices, and support interventions to grow manager self-sufficiency in the application of people management, systems and processes.
* Provide support to area of responsibility in the interpretation and execution of local strategic or operational plans, projects and programmes of work.
* Ensure the effective delivery of workforce planning, reward principles, performance management and off-boarding.
* Support managers through change and transformational activities, working with people team colleagues and stakeholders to support employees through the effects and outcomes of change.
* In conjunction with managers, identify development/support needs at department and individual level to design development/performance plans that drive measurable outcomes and improvements.
* Support Senior BP to ensure people practices meet the operational requirements and standards globally.
* In collaboration with the wider people team, ensure the effective delivery of employee life-cycle activities including workforce planning, recruitment, on-boarding, performance management, and off-boarding.
* Represent people partnering in the wider organisation, including forums and networks (such as diversity and inclusivity, engagement, wellbeing, and change) to share insight on people trends and challenges and promote best practice, inclusivity and engagement in people-related activities and decisions.
About you
To be successful in this role you will be a fully established business partner with a solid generalist People (HR) Business Partnering background, and be skilled at navigating complexity, diverse policy & practices, and legislative frameworks in a complex matrix environment.
Using your developed communication and influencing skills, you will be confident articulating complex ideas clearly and establishing credibility with a culturally diverse range of stakeholders across different territories, offering pragmatic solutions and guiding Senior Leaders through their people-related challenges. You will also:
* Be adept at strategic decision-making and problem-solving.
* Demonstrate knowledge in project management and might have experience of supporting large-scale organisational design and change programs.
* Possess some understanding of business acumen demonstrated by a thorough understanding of the business area strategy and priorities, including be proficient in leveraging data to uncover valuable insights and make informed decisions.
* Ability to build influential relationships and offer pragmatic solutions to people-related challenges.
* Strong knowledge of employment laws in the UK.
* Ideally have international experience within a global organisation.
