An exciting opportunity has arisen with our client, for a Business Services Assistant Manager for an award-winning accountancy practice in Newport.
Overview:
The Business Services Assistant Manager will be a crucial member of the business services department. They will be responsible for servicing clients, assisting to direct accountancy services delivered, and managing people. They will also be responsible for supporting the wider team on larger jobs as well as managing their own portfolios.
Business Services is split into two divisions:
1. Outsourcing which includes bookkeeping, management accounts and VAT services
2. Limited Company Services which is mainly preparation of Limited Company Financial Statements (this is the main area for this role)
Job Description:
As a Business Services Assistant Manager, your typical daily duties will include:
1. Maintain and develop technical ability by attending webinars, keeping abreast of technical development and being able to present own research on technically challenging aspects;
2. Being the point of reference for the business services team in terms of technical queries;
3. Reviewing accounts/management accounts files completed by the team and providing points of constructive feedback;
4. Guiding the team to perform work efficiently and diligently;
5. Work closely with the Partner in the planning and conduct of assignments;
6. Suggesting fees to partners;
7. Lead, manage, develop and coach an effective team;
8. Manage client relationships and be an ambassador for the firm;
9. Keep the partner informed of any issues that arise with the client;
10. Identify opportunities; think strategically by understanding the client’s needs, their business and key risks;
11. People management responsibilities covering resource planning and allocation, performance management, training and recommendations for promotion;
12. Review and assess WIP regularly and address overruns as they occur;
13. Raise bills regularly and prompt the partner for interim billing when appropriate.
Candidate Requirements:
1. Be approachable to members of the business services team;
2. Maintain objectivity, professionalism and independence in client relationship;
3. Lead by example and instil a sense of professionalism in the team;
4. Discuss difficult/contentious matters with clients (but always with Partner back up and support);
5. Provide timely and constructive feedback to the team;
6. Be an integral member of the team by participating in group activities;
7. Support less experienced members of the team as required;
8. Participate, as a minimum, in internally held Business Development events;
9. Well researched, enthusiastic and knowledgeable on the work and role of the accountant, and the Practice.
Package:
* Salary of £40,000 to £45,000 per annum (negotiable depending on depth of experience);
