Base 24 Engineer
12 Month initial contract
Remote with weekly visits to site in Paddington

My client is looking for a skilled Base 24 Engineer to join their dynamic team for an initial 12 month contract. This role is integral to maintaining and developing robust, secure, and scalable transaction processing systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Base24 Architecture, transaction processing, and HP NonStop systems, with a proven ability to troubleshoot, optimize, and implement complex financial systems.
Key Responsibilities
HP NonStop Architecture & Tools
Configuration of requester/server applications using Pathway/Pathcom.
Managing hierarchical database file structures with Enscribe.
Utilizing TMF (Transaction Monitoring Facility) for rollback/record locking.
File utility management using FUP.
Event monitoring with EMS, and batch control with Batchcom.
Base24 System Expertise
Designing and implementing Base24 systems to process ATM and Switch transactions.
Configuring and auditing Base24 components such as NCPCOM, NETADRD, and AFT Screens (CPF, IDF, PBF).
Integration and updates of institution data using Extract/Refresh.
Developing and maintaining ICE
for web services.
Card Payments & Interfaces
Comprehensive understanding of ISO8583 messaging for Visa/Link transactions, STM, PSTM, and tokens.
Working knowledge of payment interfaces, including PSD2, ApplePay, and tokenization.
POS and ATM authorization systems, including device handler configuration for ATM files.
Programming & Debugging
Strong command over languages including TACL, TAL, Cobol, C, C++, and Java.
Expertise in SQL programming, XML, JSON, and DDL.
Debugging of compiled code in real-time using Inspect.
Security & Risk Management
Implementation and maintenance of security controls with Safeguard and XYGATE.
Management of encryption keys and tools like TSS and ACI desktop.
Testing, Simulation, and Implementation
Utilizing simulators such as Iliad, Paragon, and Visa VTS for transaction testing.
Writing and executing Implementation Plans for transitioning changes into production environments.
Maintaining source code repository controls with RMS and adhering to RPQ methodology for source code standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Proven expertise in Base24 Architecture and HP NonStop systems.
Deep understanding of transaction processing standards, including ISO8583.
Proficiency in programming languages: TACL, Cobol, C/C++, Java, and SQL.
Experience with financial system integration, Visa interfaces, and ATM/POS authorization.
Familiarity with security controls and compliance frameworks in the banking sector.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug real-time compiled code.
Excellent documentation and communication skills for writing detailed implementation plans.
Preferred Skills
Experience with simulators like Paragon
Knowledge of ICE
Web services configuration.
Familiarity with institution-specific data configuration and refresh processes.
