Job summary Exciting opportunity for an experienced physiotherapist to work in the friendly, dynamic Eden MSK outpatient team, based at Penrith hospital (the service provides clinics at Penrith, Appleby and Kirkby Stephen). This post involves working closely with very experienced clinicians, including advanced practitioners. You will be working in a busy department which receives referrals from general practice (including First Contact Practitioners), consultants, midwives as well as patients themselves. This post provides an opportunity to be responsible for undergraduate clinical education, as we regularly welcome students from the university of Cumbria for both non-elective and elective placements. You will also be expected to provide support and clinical supervision for less experienced clinicians and a physiotherapy technician. You will partake in monthly In Service Training sessions which include all MSK clinicians within NCIC, often involving external speakers. The department runs several successful rehabilitation classes in the large gym area, which is available to use with individual patients too. This role provides great scope for professional growth within a supportive team. Main duties of the job To assess, determine clinical diagnosis, and to develop and implement specialist treatment plans for patients with increasing clinical complexity within hospital and community settings. To perform comprehensive physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations, complex physical and psychological conditions and multi-pathologies using clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques to provide an accurate diagnosis of their condition. This may include interpretation and analysis of clinical and non - clinical information and investigations. Assess patient understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid informed consent and have the capacity to work within a legal framework with all patients. To communicate effectively with patients, families, carers and other professionals to ensure an integrated approach to care. To provide education, support and training to physiotherapy colleagues, students and other healthcare professionals. To undertake audit and participate in research activities as appropriate.
