Role: 1:1 Teaching Assistant Location: Totnes Start: January 2025 Contract: Full time, permanent Salary: £24,420 - £26,440 (depending on experience) A fantastic independent special educational needs provision is seeking to appoint three dedicated, passionate and empathetic 1:1 teaching assistants to join their close-knit team. This service provides high-quality, individualised learning to students aged 11 - 18. About the school: The school is part of a well-established network created by experienced SEN teachers, comprising multiple independent schools and alternative provisions across the country. This school specialises in providing personalised support for students with complex social, emotional and behavioural needs. The curriculum is diverse, blending academic and vocational opportunities, and the school is equipped with outstanding facilities such as food technology labs, motor and construction workshops and a fully equipped sports hall. About the role: Provide 1:1 educational support tailored to students with additional needs, ensuring they fully engage with their learning journey. Support students in a variety of settings, including the classroom, outreach centres or at home, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability Foster emotional wellbeing and equip students with essential life skills to support their development. Collaborate closely with teachers, other support staff and families to create a holistic and inclusive approach to student progress Promote both academic progress and personal growth through targeted interventions About you: Must have a genuine passion for making a positive impact on the lives of young people Able to remain calm, empathetic and professional, especially when supporting students with challenging behaviour Previous experience working with students with additional needs is highly desirable Must be able to drive, have access to your own vehicle (minimum of 2 years of driving experience) and hold business insurance (or willing to get it) Strong communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate Adaptable, flexible and a good sense of humour This is an incredible opportunity to work in a supportive and dynamic environment, making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.
