We are working with an NHS organisation who are seeking to appoint an Interim Head of Financial Accounting for a short-term interim role for 3 months in the first instance.
The role will involve hybrid working and an ASAP start is available. The assignment will be at Band 8b NHS Agency Capped rates and has the possibility of extension.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. Supporting across the whole Finance Team - with extra focus on ensuring the integrity of the balance sheet including payroll, payments, receivables and SBS transactions oversight;
2. Daily oversight of the outsourced Operational Financial Services to NHS SBS; Setup and Payment of Suppliers, Transactional procurement (Requisitions and Purchase Orders), payroll and treasury management;
3. Ensuring the Trust is compliant in producing various Statutory returns internally and externally i.e. Month and Year end accounts, Charity Accounting & VAT Returns;
4. Supporting Trust wide Financial Planning of the Balance Sheet and Cash flow;
5. Ensuring the integrity of the Trust financial reporting system to support accurate record of the financial position;
6. Completion of Charity review which is currently being carried out by Trust auditors;
7. Budget holder training for Financial Management in areas like Cash Management, debtors & capital expenditure;
8. Financial reconciliations & finance information provision including advising on technical matters such as VAT, capital and lease accounting;
9. Debt collection resulting from Salary overpayments;
10. Resolution of payroll issues.
The ideal candidate will have:
1. Qualified CCAB Professional Accountancy Qualification;
2. Extensive experience of working within a senior management role in a finance environment;
3. Extensive experience of developing and assuring financial controls, processes and procedures;
4. Experience of technical and VAT accounting rules and a sound understanding of accounting standards and their application in the NHS;
5. Experience of leading and managing staff in a senior role;
6. Production of board level reports.
