As a Clinical Co-ordinator for Covid 19 Vaccinations, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering a safe and effective service for the delivery of COVID-19 vaccinations. The post holder will undertake a clinical supervisory role, overseeing a team of Immunisers.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for:
1. Delivery of a safe service, assisting to influence and facilitate change within the setting and service areas.
2. The supervision of clinical assessment prior to vaccination.
3. Supporting the reviews of complex medical histories and potential adverse reactions and offering specialist advice as needed.
4. The supervision, planning and configuration of the vaccination clinics.
5. The clinical supervision of safe vaccination delivery.
6. The supervision of drawing up and preparation of the vaccine prior to administration and ensuring that each activity is recorded.
7. Training and supporting staff in all aspects of vaccine administration and delivery.
8. Maintaining cold chain and supporting with transportation of vaccine.
9. Ensuring the best possible clinical outcomes by using up-to-date skills and adhering to evidence-based policies and procedures.
10. Have in-depth knowledge of the current legislation and guidance in relation to Covid 19 Vaccination.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
1. Registered nurse with current NMC registration, GPhC for pharmacists, HCPC for allied healthcare professionals.
2. Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area supplemented by specialist clinical, managerial training, to post graduate level.
3. Current immunisation training / update or willingness to undertake.
Experience
Essential
1. Demonstrable experience working in a similar role in public sector.
2. Experience of working with adults and children or willingness to vaccinate and supervise all age groups.
3. Recent experience in clinical supervision.
Knowledge
Essential
1. Knowledge of immunisation schedules in accordance with national recommendations.
2. Practical skills and knowledge of cold chain procedures and medicines management.
3. Effective skills in communicating complex and sensitive information and in difficult situations, requiring empathy, reassurance, persuasion and influence.
