About the role
Maximise your chances of a successful application to this job by ensuring your CV and skills are a good match.
Imperial College London has secured three years of Research England Development (RED) funding to provide support to climate innovations that are ready to scale. This project - the Climate Scaling Collaborative - includes partners from the universities of Cranfield, Derby, Exeter, Leeds and Nottingham, as well as agreements to collaborate with a number of external partners.
The project will focus on IP-rich university start-ups and spinouts with deep technology-based solutions for climate mitigation and adaptation. Encompassing hardware, software and hybrid solutions, the project will support climate-focused businesses across a broad range of industrial verticals. Over the initial RED Fund period, this support will reach 60 IP-rich climate startups initiated within the UK higher education eco-system - from partner institutions and beyond. Through founder networking events, the project will engage with a further 120 UK businesses. Each regional partner will host events to showcase prototyping and manufacturing facilities and develop collaborations with local investors, policy groups and relevant businesses. The project includes work packages to deliver investment support, manufacturing advice, talent and governance navigation, business development support and peer networking.
The Imperial team is a partnership between Imperial\\\'s Enterprise Lab and Undaunted, bringing together Imperial\\\'s excellence in supporting innovation in general, and climate innovation in particular. The postholder will sit in Undaunted but have a close relationship with both teams.
We are looking for a talented project officer to support this new three-year project. The job involves working with the project manager to deliver the dual elements of the programme: a cohort-based support programme for 60 small businesses, and a new, UK-wide network of climate innovation hubs. You will work closely with these start-up businesses to connect them with relevant support and organise the different aspects of delivering that support which will come from a mix of researchers, business experts and external organisations.
What you would be doing
You will be at the heart of the project, playing an essential part in ensuring that the project is a success.
You will work with the wider project team to deliver a number of the key project work packages, particularly the recruitment of participating businesses, and communication with them, the delivery of appropriate events and training, the organisation of a range of enterprise support activities, including technology and manufacturing navigation and talent recruitment and gathering information from the different workstreams to prepare appropriate reports or other dissemination material.
The job will be varied, with many different elements and strands. In addition to delivering a number of activities, you will coordinate and liaise with a wide range of people and partners, both inside and outside the funded project, maintaining productive and effective relationships. Your skills with people and ability to communicate effectively will be essential to ensuring that the project is a success.
